Midjourney has taken the world of art by storm and will not stop anytime soon. Every couple of weeks, it comes up with new features and updates that never fail to blow our minds. One of the recent astounding features is its “Remaster Feature,” which promises to improve the rendering of your old images.
Isn’t it exciting that now you can enhance and improve all your old images to create a better version of them?
In this blog post, we’ll learn what the Remaster feature is, how it works, whether it is good or bad, and everything you need to know about it.
Let’s get a closer look at it.
What is Midjourney’s Remaster feature?
Midjourney remaster feature is a feature that claims to improve and enhance the quality of your old images. It’s a great way to regenerate your old images and create a different output of the images. So, if you want to revamp your old images, you must give this feature a try.
Now that we know what Remaster feature is and what it does let’s look at how it works in the Midjourney bot.
How Midjourney’s Remaster feature works?
This feature might sound a little bit trickier, but it’s really simple to use.
All you need to do is go to midjourney.com/app after signing in with Midjourney.
Here is your profile and all the images you’ve created so far.
Pick an image that you want to improve.
Click the 3 dots and copy the job ID.
And then go to discord and type in /show
And paste in the job ID.
Now, the bot will do its job to find an old image and will give us a few options, including Remaster button.
If you are not seeing the remaster button and seeing something like this, then don’t worry. Hit the beta upscale redo, and you’ll be able to see the remaster button once the image is scaled.
And yeah, that’s how simple it is to use Remaster feature. In a matter of seconds, it will give you a revised version of the image.
You can further go ahead and upscale or create variations for these images by clicking U and V buttons, respectively.
It’s worth mentioning that the AI won’t follow the exact patterns of the original image. In some cases, you might see an evident change in your image.
Having said that, it will try to create a similar image with high resolution and definition.
Let’s see an Example of Midjourney Remaster
Let’s demonstrate this feature with an example.
This image is from a prompt I came up with a few days ago.
The results were quite satisfactory, but there was an issue like I didn’t like the front strands of hair.
So, I decided to see if Midjourney would pick up on this issue and try to improve them.
To my surprise, it actually picked out the issue and improved the hair to a great extent. But, it also made significant changes like the stethoscope, facial features, and frames.
Let’s just see the good part that it fixed all the issues, and that’s what we wanted.
Choosing Remaster Style
Another thing to keep in mind is that Remaster might also go for some more extensive stylistic changes. It tends to go for more photoreal results.
Let’s take this as an example.
In this image, I’d like to change the type of trees and sky part.
Let’s see what Remaster does.
Well, Remaster went way too far. Here are two variations made by Remaster.
They aren’t bad, of course, but overall they’re completely different from what I expected them to be.
It would have been nice if we could tell Midjourney the amount of change or enhancement we want for our image or which parts to keep and slightly enhance.
The only problem with Remaster feature is that we can not control the style. It would have been much easier if we had a way to do so.
Let’s see a side-by-side comparison of the images.
Remaster Feature VS Original Results
Prompt#1: a camping tent in the wood at night with fairy lights and a bonfire, intricate detailed, realistic
Prompt#2: a unicorn flying in the sky, intricate detailed, high resolution
Prompt#3: a young girl reading a book and looking at the moon, a cute cat sitting next to her, ultra-detailed, realistic
Prompt#4: an astronaut walking on the moon, high resolution, 8k
Prompt#5: a mermaid under the sea, wearing a beautiful dress, and blonde hair, surrounded by fishes
Prompt#6: Create a woman sitting on the beach sand watching the sunset
Prompt#7: a portrait of a beautiful woman wearing a crown of roses, long hair, freckles, detailed, 8k
Prompt#8: a digital landscape of a fantastical world, colorful, intricate-detailed, high resolution

Midjourney Banned Words
Midjourney can create a wide variety of artworks, but there are some words that MidJourney bans.
So, it is essential to learn about those words and avoid them while crafting your prompt.
Midjourney will suspend or terminate your account if you use banned words.

Alternatives to Midjourney AI Generator
You have a few options if you’re looking for an alternative to Midjourney AI Art Generator.
Midjourney VS Other AI Art Generators
Midjourney is not the only AI Art generator out there. There are so many AI Art Generators, some of which are mentioned above. Each one of them has its own advantages and disadvantages.
For instance, Dall-E has the most straightforward interface and creates more realistic human-like images. At the same time, its downside is that it is more on the expensive side, around $15 for 150 credits.
On the other hand, stable diffusion is an open-source AI that is entirely free. But the biggest con is that you need high computing power to run this software.
Midjourney wins the battle because it creates more artistic images and creates better results with little input. In addition, it works on a subscription model, which gives you unlimited access.
We’ve made a detailed blog post comparing these three art generators. Read here: Midjourney vs. Dall·E 2 vs Stable Diffusion: Side by Side Comparison
Conclusion
Overall, Remaster is a great feature and can help you enhance and improve your old images. It’s still in beta form and is improving every day. If you haven’t tried Midjourney, it’s high time to try it.
The best part is, Midjourney is improving itself with every passing minute and comes up with astonishing features every month. So, we won’t be surprised to see other great features in the near future.
